Vatapá

Vatapá is the iconic food of the northeast Brazilian state of Bahia, and the northeast of Brazil generally. It was brought by slaves from West Africa. Ingredients vary, but palm oil and coconut milk are always included. It is commonly eaten with prawns, is creamy and spicy hot. Mine contains bread, cashew nuts, peanut, prawns, dried shrimps, palm oil and coconut milk. It is eaten with acarajé (a bean fritter) or rice.
